In a Parliamentary form of Government, the day-to-day working of the Parliamentary system makes large claims on time and resources of the various Ministries/Departments. Over a period of time, Parliamentary programme covers numerous intricate matters-financial, legislative and non-legislative-concerning various Ministries/Departments of the Government. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, though small in size, is one of the key Ministries of the Union Government. The task of efficiently handling diverse and enormous parliamentary work on behalf of the Government in the Parliament has been assigned to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. As such, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs serves as an important link between the two Houses of Parliament and the Government in respect of Government Business in Parliament. Created in May, 1949 as a Department entrusted mainly with the above function, it is now a full-fledged Ministry.

Data Science Foundation, Secretary General

Data Scientists meet once in a quarter to discuss important facets of the emerging world of analytics and to explore newer avenues. The group contributes to effective use of analytics models and techniques including but not limited to Big Data, Predictive modeling, Machine learning, sentiment analysis and different tools. The focus is to compliment each other as individuals and groups in mentoring, guiding and inspiring in new trends of analytics. The outcomes are action items at individual levels after interactions/meetings and also formulate work as evangelist in this area toinfluence associations, governments and bodies to update policies regarding promotion and usage of analytics in the corporate as well as social developmental work. The group also contributes to innovative ways and ideas to foster and disseminate analytics learning and methods at learning centers, institutions and universities.

Public Relations Society of India, Member

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) is the national association of public relations practitioners and communications specialists in India. It functions primarily for professional development. It seeks to formulate and interpret the objectives and potential of public relations as a socially useful function and uphold its value as an integral part of management. It also maintains close links with the academic bodies for promotion of public relations as a subject of management studies.

The CSI Kolkata Chapter is functioning from 1965. CSI Kolkata Chapter is one of the oldest chapters of CSI in India. The Kolkata Chapter has more than 1000 Members in the Eastern R egion . The Chapter has been regularly organizing workshops , Technical Lectures and seminars on current topics in Computer Science and Information Technology. Our goal is to facilitate Knowledge sharing among IT practitioners and researchers and to nurture students of this field and new entrants in the area of Computer Science.

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Member

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau is a statutory multi-disciplinary body established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, to combat organized wildlife crime in the country. The Bureau has its headquarter in New Delhi and five regional offices at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Jabalpur; three sub-regional offices at Guwahati, Amritsar and Cochin; and five border units at Ramanathapuram, Gorakhpur, Motihari, Nathula and Moreh. Under Section 38 (Z) of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, it is mandated to collect and collate intelligence related to organized wildlife crime activities and to disseminate the same to State and other enforcement agencies for immediate action so as to apprehend the criminals; to establish a centralized wildlife crime data bank; co-ordinate actions by various agencies in connection with the enforcement of the provisions of the Act; assist foreign authorities and international organization concerned to facilitate co-ordination and universal action for wildlife crime control; capacity building of the wildlife crime enforcement agencies for scientific and professional investigation into wildlife crimes and assist State Governments to ensure success in prosecutions related to wildlife crimes; and advise the Government of India on issues relating to wildlife crimes having national and international ramifications, relevant policy and laws. It also assists and advises the Customs authorities in inspection of the consignments of flora & fauna as per the provisions of Wild Life Protection Act, CITES and EXIM Policy governing such an item.

The Science Association of Bengal, Member

During the period of 1970s, Birla Industrial & Technological Museum used to organize Eastern India Science Fair where an individual used to attend the fair through School or a Science Club only.
Keeping the above idea in idea in mind, a group of young and enthusiastic people decided to open up The Science Association of Bengal, a Science club with Dr. Dinesh Ch. Roy as President & Shri Subhabrata Roychoudhury as Secretary which has turned to a leading voluntary organization in the State with passage of decades.
The Society was registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act, XXIV of 1961 on 5.8.1977.
